I would like to thank...
This disc is dedicated to the Brazilian composers, poets, musicians, singers and artists who, through the beauty of their Art, offer a cordial, happy and serene image of Brazil to the world - one quite contrary from the reality of violence and unfairness. A wonderful country where few have everything and most have nothing.
Long live the Artists, who call attention to the social wounds, without fear, never loosing their courage, faith, good spirits, passion and above all, their hope of turning a fictional paradise into a reality.

I met Fernando Girão when I was performing with him and Brazilian guitarist Ricardo Silveira at the UCLA Royce Hall. Since that day, every time I come to Portugal, I make sure I talk to Fernando, he always has something new musically speaking.
Well, this time I heard much more than that, as Fernando Girão is not like your average singer or composer and he has picked the right songs to record. They are the best "samba jongo". I'm impressed with the way he sings with all the pyrotechnics and the way he "dances" with Brazilian rhythms. On this CD he took a trip down the old Caribbean rhythms from Cuba, Mozambique, Angola and Cape Verde, and also uses the "songo" with old rumba rhythms and even a new rhythm that he put together that I would call "salsamba". With a natural talent for improvisation, knowledge and skills, he also goes through Luanda and Aruanda.
After I heard this album three or four times, I realized that as soon as it comes out, I want my copy right away so I can feel good listening to my spiritual brother every day. Congratulations Fernando for the great love and music that you always give us!

For those who don’t know Fernando Girão, I can assure you that besides being a great contemporary singer, musician, poet and composer who also portrays fantastic charisma in his live performances, he possesses enormous intensity as a human being. He is one of those people who climbs onto the highest trapeze and jumps without requiring a safety net.
I heard his “bossa nova ballads” CD at least four times because I could not believe what I was listening to. We see yet another side of this untamable and restless spirit, always searching for the next challenge. Friends get ready, because you are about to hear a new Fernando Girão, who is bringing lots of love, peace and gratitude!

No one delivers a ballad like Fernando Girão. Truly a master at his craft.
Girão continues his work as an important voice on the international music scene. A vocalist who both respects and defies traditions.
On sambas, his style reminds listeners that the spirit is also physical.
On brazil – a tribute, Fernando Girão takes us higher and deeper.
Keep on inspiring through your music.
