Paulo Jorge Ferreira - PERCURSOS

Paulo Jorge Ferreira was born in Lisbon, in 1966. He began his musical studies at the age of five, with professor José António Sousa. In-depth study dedicated to the accordion with his distinguished professor provided him the opportunity to participate in national and international competitions, where he obtained honorable classifications. He completed the Course in Accordion at the Matono Musical Institute. Throughout his musical apprenticeship he attended seminars lead by some of the most prestigious contemporary accordionists. 

He has given recitals both nationally and internationally, namely in France, Mexico, Belgium, Austria, Italy and Macau, and has performed chamber music concerts with esteemed musicians like the pianist Maria João Pires and Maestro António Victorino d’Almeida. He has appeared as a guest musician with both symphony and chamber orchestras, such as, the Beijing Orchestra, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Portuguese Symphonic Orchestra, and the Remix Ensemble, working with renowned conductors of international quality.

Paulo Jorge Ferreira has formed an accordion duo along with Pedro Santos, and an accordion and piano duo with Pedro Vasconcelos.

Simultaneously he has also developed activity as a composer, from which the works “Infinito Grego” for two accordions and Suite No. 1, “Images of Pac-Chen” for solo accordion may be highlighted.
He is a member of the jury of the international competition “Coupe Mondiale.”
Paulo Jorge Ferreira is professor at the Superior School of Applied Arts in Castelo Branco, at the Regional Conservatory of Castelo Branco, and at the Conservatory of D. Dinis, in Odivelas.
